There’s a new release of GeoShell available this week too, and you should deffinitely get that.
If you haven’t been keeping up with GeoShell, there’s been a lot going on in the last few months (despite the fact that I haven’t been writing any code myself): Bars can be complete transparent and still have buttons. Buttons can have icons and text. Menus are now skinable, and with this release, the menu separators are skinned too. GeoShell should also auto-hide properly when full-screen apps like games and video-players try to take over (no more hiding the bars manually before starting your games). Of course, there are lots of bug-fixes (several in this latest release related to minimizing and mximizing applications) and other minor features, so you should really go download it from SourceForge (hey, look at that, they now hide all the other releases, instead of just highlighting the current one).
Another side note: we may be doing all our shell releases through SourceForge exclusively for a while, since our current free web-host has been bought out, and we are in the process of making the move to the lokai.org servers provided by B. Sneed where, for the first time ever, we’ll actually get to watch our bandwidth usage soar (current estimates from our previous provider have us averaging 10Gb a month but peaking at 25Gb when we do full releases).
GeoShell.org will be up on the new server first, and once we’re sure that’s working, we’ll move over GeoShell.com and all the forum posts (fingers crossed).
